“i wasn’t counting on that happening”

That’s what Jim said to me last night. I went outside to mainly let him know supper was ready – if he wanted to come in and eat AND to see what the heck he was up to.

I guess that’s how accidents can and do happen. He was working on replacing the tire when Frank fell off the jack. Oh my gosh…I don’t EVEN want to think about what COULD HAVE happened! I’m just thankful he was standing upright and telling me how disgusted he was that he lost four hours due to this little event.

The jack broke, so he had to fix that, as well. When I went outside, he was in the process of making a stable base and getting things in place again. It finally got dark enough, he just had to quit.

This morning, he’s back at it. And there are a few more safety precautions in place. He told me, “I know why that happened. When the air bags lost air, it made the truck move forward”. Hindsight is always 20/20.

The weather has messed with pre-harvest road trip preparations. The goal was to possibly head south with the first load tomorrow. I’m not so sure that’s gonna happen now. We’ve had day after day after day of wet weather. And, if you’re a constant reader of this blog, you know we don’t have a shed to work in. Jim’s at the mercy of whatever the weather of the day happens to be. So, until he knows when he’s reached that point that he’s ready to load and head south, I will continue to tinker around the house and play with the grandkids (darn).

Today was my last day in the school bus and being with my “other” kids. Although it was a bit of a struggle to get used to the high decibel of loudness after school and constantly getting after them to sit down, I will miss them…and…I will be anxious to see how much they’ve grown and changed in the fall.

So…trading one yellow beast for another. 🙂

One of “my” kids gave this to me and thanked me for being his bus driver. This melted my heart!

A small crowd today! Most of the kids on my route but was missing about 14 today – more treats for me! See ya in the fall!
