meeting a love story face to face

1237066_10100299663010020_1663191947_nWe had visitors in Jordan the other day. Before our “chance” visit, I knew Jenny (aka @jenlynndewey) and Mark (aka @sunflowerfarmer) only through social media…Twitter, Facebook and Jenny’s blog,  jldphotographblog.com.  Who would have guessed my simple question, “Coming through Jordan?” on a Facebook status would result in meeting a love story face to face?

You know, I honestly can’t even remember when I fell in love with this story or with these two awesome people. It must have been sometime last summer while checking out this thing called Twitter.  I have had no professional social media training. Everything I’ve done (which has only been slightly touched upon, I’m sure) has been through reading and observing. While I was teaching myself about Twitter, I began following a group of people who tweeted about their involvement in agriculture. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their conversations and found myself becoming more and more involved in their stories. It took quite a bit of nerve to jump into one of these conversations; afraid of being ignored. That didn’t happen. Instead, a conversation was started and continues today. I no longer feel nervous about jumping into someone’s conversation and people who I would watch from a distance have now become my friends (regardless of age, profession or location).

“So although it breaks my heart to have him leave. Although I come back and even the smallest thing can remind me of his presence here not so long ago. Although I know it won’t be a month before I get to see him next. It still hits you hard.”  (Taken from Jenny’s blog dated March 26, 2012 – “It’s Images Like This)

One of these conversations I observed was the love story between Jenny and her sunflowerfarmer. I was hooked from the first posting I read on her blog. I found myself hungry to read more about how a girl from Chico, CA met a North Dakota farmer and fell in love. How did they meet, you ask? It wasn’t through church, it wasn’t a bar, it wasn’t school, it wasn’t through any of the typical channels…it was through Twitter!  I, like the rest of her followers, have watched the love story blossom to what it is today. So, how is it that I was able to finally meet the cast of this story? They left their home in North Dakota three days ago with their destination being near Great Falls, MT to attend a small event they have been planning for quite some time – their wedding. I’m so excited for them and it was such a pleasure meeting them in person. I felt like I already knew them as great friends just dropping by for a visit. (Thank you, by the way, for taking time from your crazy schedule to stop!)

“God knew what he was doing when he brought Mark into my life. He knew Mark was all the things I needed in life. And that he was going to be the partner who I will endure the storms and sunshine with in this journey we call marriage.  And I cannot wait until we embark on that journey.” (“So God Brought Me Mark” – June 28, 2013)

I hope you don’t mind that I’m sharing your love story, Jenny and Mark. I wish you many blessings as you journey through your new life adventures together. I look forward to reading this continuing series. God bless you and I hope our paths will one day cross again!
