(Callie took this picture yesterday. I thought it was so pretty – I wanted to share .)
So today we went back to the Limon, CO pre-cutting status – vacation.
Callie and I decided we’d take advantage of the swimming pool this afternoon and cool down a little in the water. The trailer house does a fantastic job of keeping us plenty cool – sometimes, almost too cool. The blankets seem to stay out of the drawer most of the time.
Callie & Kaidence watching a movie together.
Leon & Jada Bulgin of Hoffman Harvesting (Bowdle, SD) are also parked in the Limon KOA this year. Callie and I thought maybe we should give Jada a break (she was in the process of fixing supper for her huge crew) and see if Miss Kaidence would like to go with us. She took us up on the idea. Oh my gosh – it’s so much fun having a little girl around again!! Callie and Kaidence hit it off pretty darn good!
Jim and Callie took off after supper and headed out to the “home place” to start the clean up. They decided to take advantage of the clouds and the breeze to get the header cleaned of the field dirt and wheat straw. Callie was sort of bribed with the idea being that if she helped, Jim would take her to McDonalds for a treat. It’s dark now and the storm clouds are producing lightning and wind. I don’t see a big storm moving in and it doesn’t look like it will be here for very long. My concern, though, is the lightning. It’ s straight down from the sky to the ground. With this drought as severe as it is, we all know what that can start…fire. The wind won’t help matters either. I pray nothing comes from this. The lightning/thunder is CRAZY right now! Nothing better than a summer thunderstorm to end the day. And…IT’S RAINING!! A LOT!!!
Taylor should be headed north again. The FBLA National Conference is over tonight. They were going to leave San Antonio and spend the night somewhere in Texas. They’ll be home tomorrow – early evening. She and Jenna will head for Limon on the fourth. I can’t wait to see Gina!!! (and Taylor) 🙂
Oh do send that rain this way please! We are so dry! Callie and Kaidence look like they had a great time in the pool. Give all our best. Where is your next stop?
There’s a line of showers from CO to SD going across NE. Maybe it WILL get as far as you. We head for Jordan, MT next. Not sure when we’ll be leaving. Taylor and Jenna will be here Wed. night. Jen is supposed to be with us until Sunday so I don’t know what the plan will be. I’m hoping I can talk Jim into going to the mountains for a couple of days. 🙂
So how did the FBLA group do???? So proud of our students and E-M. Love reading your blog Tracy, makes my day. Do the Bulgrin`s have relatives at Waco, Ne.??? I grew up with several families by that name—–small world.
They did really well. The community service team took first in the nation – Cody Brown, Lauren Bowman and Jordan Bowman. Zoe Tuttle was in the top 15 for public speaking. I think they probably had a great time! And, thanks to the sponsors who took them – Mr. & Mrs. Shrader, Mr. & Mrs. Backemeyer and Dave & Barb Oehlerking. Probably no relation to the Bulgrin’s in Waco. Leon Bulgin came from South Africa and was an employee for Jada’s dad. A hazard of the trade – believe me, I know all about that! Hope you have a fun and safe 4th!
4th of July and we are not in Colby, KS I am not making my red white and blue jello shooters as I do not know yet where we will be. I will be missing all my favorite US friends tomorrow!!!!
I will be missing you! I’m so glad we were able to get together with you last year. It just won’t be the same this year!
The top photo looks a lot like the one took and just posted. Love the sky when it looks like this.
