July 27, 1945 Thank You

Jim and I were able to visit the WWII memorial while in Washington DC last December. He always wished he could have gotten his dad there to view the memorial erected to honor him and his fellow war heroes.

I had a different idea for a post than the one you are about to read. I intended on sharing our weekend of camping. This will have to wait for a few days.

How is it That a Week has Disappeared?

CAUTION!    This is a lengthy – but fun – post!

It’s actually been 10 days ago that I shared with you the happenings of the Zeorian household.  When I left off on the 21st, we were about to begin an adventure at a local State Park. Plans changed. Instead, we packed a lunch and headed to the “Eagle’s Nest”. The Eagle’s Nest was built quite a few years ago – when Jamie and Jenna were much smaller. Then came along Taylor and Callie. Now… it’s Brooklyn and Jillian’s turn to play and imagine and have fun.

A Red Letter Weekend!

Taylor was destined to receive the honor!

Grandma used to talk about “Red Letter” Days. These are the days that really stand out above and beyond the rest and are usually few and far between. When a Red Letter Day occurs, you NEVER want it to be over. Taylor was able to experience one of these – actually a Red Letter Weekend!

Until you begin the next good book

The very first thing I need to do is tell my Dad Happy Birthday! I love you and hope you did something special for yourself today. I remember one birthday, in particular, we celebrated in Great Falls. I believe that was in 1983. I remember we sat there for what seemed like forever before we finally got just a few more acres to cut before having to head home. I know Pohney used to make you a special German chocolate cake and I can remember Tom “Thumb” always making a point to tell me to tell you Happy Birthday. Good memories!

Gathering the equipment to begin the chore of cleaning and getting ready to move…again.

Jordan, MT (again)

As I was driving to the grocery store this afternoon, I thought I should fill you in on the town of Jordan. It hasn’t changed much since we arrived here for the first time in 1981. And, then I remembered that I had taken pictures of Jordan last year and had blogged about the town. So, I’m copying the one I wrote a year ago for you to be able to see the sights of Jordan. I can say, with confidence, not a lot has changed over the year…except that I’m a year older and so is everyone else. 🙂

There’s a storm brewing in the southwest section of Garfield County. Garfield County is a rather large county in Montana – 100 miles by 100 miles. So, it may take a while before it threatens Jordan…IF it threatens Jordan. It has been exceptionally hot and HUMID here. Feels like good storm brewing weather but lacking wind. The rain will be welcomed but sure hope there’s no hail in that cloud!

The Final Wheat Harvest

We finished the acres we came to Limon for yesterday afternoon. Continue reading

Cutting Wheat in the Desert

We were back in the field today before 10:00 a.m. I know we could have been there earlier but we had to get the equipment serviced and moved to the first field which takes time. The  fields we cut here are in mile long strips. I like cutting these because there’s very little turning and it feels like you get a lot accomplished in a short period of time. Each field is approximately 100 acres  – we were able to get two of them cut today. Unfortunately, the yields aren’t as good as we’ve been cutting this summer. Jim thought we’d be lucky if we cut 20 bushel wheat here.

Happy Father’s Day!

Father’s Day has come and gone for another year. It was yet another day of nothing happening in camp. Taylor insisted she wanted to make supper for her dad so that’s what she did. She decided it was going to be BBQ meatballs, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. This would have to be one of Jim’s favorite meals – except for roast beef.

THE day to Honor Mom!

One day? I guess one is better than none 🙂

Because I don’t have any of my chillun’s to do anything with, or make me breakfast in bed or even pick a dandelion, I thought I’d sit down here and share with you a few thoughts…and my flowers.
